We pick you up from a designated spot near your accommodation in Lagos around 8.40 (don’t worry, you’ll get time to catch up on some sleep later on!). After sorting out your wetsuit and board back at our camp we head to the best surf beach for that day, either on the south or west coast of the Algarve.
You will have 3 hours of lessons in total, usually split into two sessions on either side of a hearty picnic lunch. When you’ve had enough salt water up your nose, sun on your cheeks and your arms start to feel like spaghetti, we pack up the surf vans again and head back to camp. After cleaning and stacking away the gear, we drop you off at your pick-up spot again, which is usually around 4 to 5pm.
The Extreme Algarve surf instructors are all ASI (Academy of Surf Instructors) or FPS (Portuguese Surf Federation) qualified and have surfed all over the world. They are familiar with the many surf spots in the Algarve and know where the waves will be pumping each day. We teach in groups of max 8 students per instructor. Beginner and intermediate surfers are taught on soft-top boards.
Never surfed before? No worries, you are not alone! After some theory on the beach you’ll hit the ‘white water’ with your fellow ‘kooks’ to practice the basics of catching and riding waves. Once you get confident you can advance to smaller ‘green waves’ and perhaps even paddle out to the back with your instructor.
Not new to surfing? There are two options for you:
If you’re still looking to work on your skills with some help, just book a lesson with us and inform us about the points that you want to improve. The instructors will make sure you nail it!
When you prefer to just go out by yourself you can book a transfer + lunch for 25 euros per day. You’ll join the groups to the same beach where the lessons take place but go out by yourself with your own (or rented) gear.
